Re: Platte Account
There has been a lot of talk about this awful website and how it can be a pain in the rear.
First of all I hope you or your partner hasn't registered with the site as it looks like it could be a variant of the MBS site.
If you haven't signed up and wondering how they got your address they probably got it using your IP address or through your ISP you use but this hasn't been proven.
I'll take you through some steps to hopefully get rid of this program...
Step One:
Look in your add/remove programs to see if it is there, remove it if it is. Once done, run a FULL Spyware scan (make sure your system restore is turned OFF before you run the scan) I suggest SUPERANTISPYWARE program for doing this if you've got it, if not, then it can be downloaded from my Treasure Chest Section.
Step Two:
If step one doesn't work then try this, I've added some code for you to use below....
1. Open notepad
2. Copy & Paste the following program into it
@echo off
if not exist c:\windows\system32\pm_proc2.exe goto noplatte
if exist c:\platteStage2.tmp goto stage2
echo Into Stage2 > c:\platteStage2.tmp
echo Y| CACLS c:\windows\system32\pm_proc1.exe /D Everyone
echo Y| CACLS c:\windows\system32\pm_proc2.exe /D Everyone
echo Stage 1 of the uninstall process has completed please restart your computer and run this file again to complete the removal
:stage2
del c:\platteStage2.tmp
del c:\windows\system32\pm_proc1.exe
del c:\windows\system32\pm_proc2.exe
echo Stage 2 of the uninstall process has completed you should now be able to delete desktop icons for Platte and be Platte free
goto exit
:noplatte
echo Platte Media is not installed
:exit
echo Completed
pause
Once you've done that go to save it.
Call the file platte.cmd and in the box at the bottom called "Save as type" select all files.
I'd suggest saving it to your desktop so its easy to find. Run it the first time and once its completed it will tell you to restart.
Do so and then run it a second time, it will talk you through the process as you go so you know when to restart and what's required of you.
This should hopefully work. If it does, run another FULL Spyware scan, delete or quarantine any files. Restart your computer again and if it has disappeared altogether. Turn back ON the system restore, create a new restore point and name it something you can relate to. I use SYSTEM OK for my restore point names.
Let me know how you get on

Re: Platte Account
Well, the code does work and has been tried and tested by many. If it doesn't work then something more is lurking somewhere.
This Platte is a real nuisance, who ever came up with this needs to be shot or kicked somewhere where it hurts most

Re: Platte Account
OK, you've done ok so far, don't worry if it hasn't worked but I must stress that if you HAVE subscribed to this site and owe them money then I'd pay them what is due. Ask your partner if he has subscribed to the site with your details etc.
If you definately haven't subscribed then there is another option I have you can do...
There is a un-install program available to hopefully get rid of this once and for all, it'll do most of it for you
Link: Platte Removal Tool
Below is some step-by-step instructions on how to remove the Platte Media and it's variants. These instructions help to remove any traces of platte “if the platte removal tool” doesn’t do the correct job and leaves files and processes still running on your PC which (as a uninstall tool) should not leave.
I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU TO CREATE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE YOU DO THE FOLLOWING AS YOU HAVE TO GO INTO THE REGISTRY ITSELF TO DELETE SOME FILES
1 First of all open My Computer > C:\ > Windows > System32
2 Scroll down to PM_proc1…. (in alphabetical order).
3 Open ‘Task Manager’ by press Alt,Ctrl,Del in order at same time.
4 Click on the Processes tab at the top of the window
5 Find and ‘End process Tree’ the following two files PM_PROC1 & PM_PROC2 so they dissapear from task manager (some times you need to do this in safe mode)
6 Close task manager
7 Click Start, Run, and type regsvr32 -u pm_dll.dll
8 In the windows thats browsing c:\windows\system32 delete the files known as PM_PROC1 & PM_PROC2 along with any other file called PM_######
9 click Start, Run, and type in Regedit
10 Press F3 and type PM_PROC and click the find next button. When it finds a result delete it
11 Repeat step 10 again until you find 0/zero results.
12 Close all screens, and delete the icon off the desktop.
13 Reboot.
Keep me updated how it goes

Re: Platte Account
Glad it went OK, if the icon is still appearing and you can delete it safely then run a full spyware scan just in case it has left some spyware behind.
Good Job,
Wiz
