AVG 8.0 Free Edition

There is a Free Edition available, not sure for how long though, emoticon some people are saying its for only 30 days but worth a try if you like using this program.

Basic antivirus and antispyware protection for Windows available to download for free. Limited features, no support, for private and non-commercial use only.

Re: AVG 8.0 Free Edition

Question Darlin'.......this morning I downloaded this new AVG.....as well as some updates to my Firefox.........the firefox ones really messed things up. Pages timing out, that sort of thing. (being on wireless it's quite possible that it did not load right), so I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled the latest version and that all worked fine, no more timing out.
MY QUESTION is this......can the new AVG (or possibly the new Firefox) make ONLY my site scroll slow?
I mean here and everywhere....I can scroll through the pages with no problem.....but on my site it's rather sluggish.
Do you think I have a bad CSS some place?

Re: AVG 8.0 Free Edition

people have said that the new AVG hogs more memory than the 7.5 version. I think this is because it has the spyware added on to it which is causing it to use more RAM.

So, I'd say it would be the new AVG for starters Queeny until I see more feedback and reviews etc.

That's a possibility for sure.
But you'd think it would be the same 'lagging' issue on all sites then.... emoticon

Re: AVG 8.0 Free Edition

True....and I have a very cheap (really cheap) laptop.
Still seems weird that it's my site and now I noticed my photobucket too.
Not upload or down load, not changing pages, that aspect is fine. It's the actual scrolling down the pages or like when I click the insert image button.......those are what is very sluggish...Totally weird. BTW, I noticed I'm using the newest FireFox version 3, I think that is still in beta, might that cause a problem on just a few things?

Re: AVG 8.0 Free Edition

Firefox version 3 is the beta, I've just updated my Firefox which is still on 2. something.

I never use Beta programs myself, more trouble than they're worth
