What you need here Phil is some more RAM to boost your memory in your machine. What have you got in there at the moment ?

Phil, If you have right-clicked on the hard-drive and selected 'properties' this shows you how much space you have left on it. NOT how much RAM you have. You'd of seen a circle with segments.

This does not show you how much RAM you have left, only the space you have and how much you have used so far.

To check what RAM you have in your computer, try this...

1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. System

You'll see the System Properties Window appear, near the bottom it will show you what CPU you have and how much RAM you have installed.

Deleting programs you don't use is a good idea of getting space back on your hard-drive because some programs use up a lot of RAM when working with them.

Here are some programs I have already listed in my Treasure Chest you can use to help free up space and memory, plus keep your computer running smoothly.

1. Ashampoo Magical Defrag - 14.22MB in size
2. CCleaner - 1.22MB in size

Re: Vitual memory fault

256 isn't much Phil, Windows alone uses 20% of the RAM before you even start to use programs. Another 256 would benefit you making a total of 512Mb.

If you have some empty slots in your computer to add more RAM then I'd suggest a shopping trip to get some.

Before you do, go to the Crucial Website (link in the sidebar) and get the site to run a scan of your computer. It's safe to do so if you get prompts.

This will then scan your computer and tell you what type of RAM you have installed, how much and any empty slots. It will also tell you what is recommended.

If you can send me a screenshot of the page which shows you the info. If your not sure how to do this then this is quick and easy way...

When you see the screen showing you what you have inside etc, press the PrintScreen button.

Open up your Paint program

Start
All Programs
Accessories
Paint

In the toolbar of paint, goto edit then select paste. Your screenshot will appear. Save it to your desktop.

You can host the pic on a image host website like photobucket or imageshack or you can email it to me

[email protected]

please place in the subject bar... From Phill
