XP Extended for 2 Years
Micorsoft is to extend the availability of Windows XP by 2 Years. However, the extension will not apply to most new computers so if you are like me who have Windows XP Home or Pro this comes as a relief.
A company spokesperson said availability will be limited to PCs classified by Microsoft asa 'Ultra-Low Cost'. Although Microsoft believes Windows Vista is the best way to address customer and partner needs on mainstream PCs, it recognises a growing number of in-expensive PCs that would benefit from a simpler version of Windows.
It had planned to stop selling new copies of XP on 31st January 2008. However, after PC makers lobbied the company, Microsoft moved XP's termination back to 30th June. The company representives emailed today saying this deadline will remain in place for most PCs
