Adding Sound to your Board

If you want music to be heard ONLY on the MAIN PAGE, here is what to do.

1. Control Panel
2. Board management
3. Customize the language set
4. Find the "whosonline" parameter and in the textbox next to it, put the following string:

<BGSOUND SRC="http://your_mid_file_goes_here">Who is online, last %1 minutes:

Try to use midi files as these are usually very small and don't take too long to load, you can use a .wav file as long as it's small in size.

Normally the file will stop playing after it is completed the first time, so if you want it to repeat again and again use the attribute loop="true". To make it play once use loop="false"

If things still don't work out then maybe adding the player will be better, this way members can select it to play or not

Hello wiz, I got your pm and put the string in exactly the way you gave it to me but I still don't hear anything. I do have sound and speakers on my system.

I have the HTML string on my board too and can hear it, I also can hear it on your board now too.

Make sure the speakers are on 'Mute' or you have your headphone jack in the speaker socket, these things can be overlooked sometimes.

Actually you figured out what the problem was and I should have realized as well. Firefox doesn't like anything that isn't quicktime. :( And I won't install quicktime on my computer.

Re: Adding Sound to your Board

Either you can save it and upload it to a server (if you have one) or you can hot-link the URL.

When the you play it in WMP, look in File / Properties and you'll see the URL for that sound file if you are looking on that site.
